Native Level ESL Teacher Job In Companies In London

Orchid English provides high-quality English as a foreign language classes for professionals on the premises of our clients. We frequently require excellent, reliable, diligent and positive EFL teachers to work on a part-time, long-term contractual basis. The students are mostly hospitality workers in London zones 1-3 and the classes tend to be late afternoon Monday – Thursday.

Who we look for

Many of our students have a high level of English, making a few advanced errors and having a very slight non-native accent. You’ll also have to speak to the HR staff when you get to the company. Because of this, the ESL teacher needs to be able to speak English to a native level.

You must have at least a month-long CELTA or Trinity certificate plus classroom experience teaching English to adults.

Our teachers are enthusiastic, kind and patient. They correct errors sensitively, carry out engaging lessons, while being punctual and allowing the student optimum talk time. Above all, as an ESL teacher you need to be extremely reliable, as there will be a group of students at a company waiting for you.

Our company prides itself on tailoring English classes to the needs of the student, not delivering one size fits all classes. You must be able to take the needs analysis of the student or group, and design classes based around this.

How the ESL teacher job works

We send an EFL teacher for a demonstration class with a client and the client goes ahead with the course if they are happy. We pay the teacher for this demonstration class but it is free to the client. For this reason we need smartly dressed, professional teachers able to make a very good first impression. You must be well-prepared for the class, and comfortable with pressure because the client will decide whether to take classes based on your demo.

Timetabling

The number of hours per week depends on how many you would like and how many we are able to get for you. We teach private students as well as groups and you must be happy to teach both. Students normally sign up for an ongoing course for 10 weeks or longer. We give them the same ESL teacher for the duration of their course for continuity. At the beginning of the course we will agree when you are free in line with the client’s availability, and you must commit to what we have agreed.

Rates of pay

All EFL teachers work on a contractual basis and are responsible for declaring their own tax. We do not pay travel costs. Pay is based on how long the classes are, and how many students there are on the contract.

For example:

Private students

1 hour class: £27

90 min class : £35

2 hour class: £45

Group of 5 students:

1 hour class: £35

90 min class: £45

2 hour class: £55

Group of 10 students

1 hour class: £40

90 min class: £50

2 hour class: £60

This is paid to you promptly by bank transfer at the end of each month on receipt of your registers and invoice for that month.
